The Ivory Tower is an unfinished novel by American-British realist writer Henry James (1843-1916), that was posthumously published in 1917. The book is referenced in the Season 1 episode "The Ivory Tower", which is named after it, and centers around the riches collected by two dying millionaires and their corrupting effect on the people around them.

Margaret Schroeder reads The Ivory Tower in the hospital before Sheriff Eli Thompson visits her to make sure that she remains quiet about the death of her husband, Hans Schroeder.
