Synopsis:

Recap:

The episode begins with the unfolding of Mickey Doyle's plan to rob one of Nucky's ward bosses. Later, the ward boss fingers "the [Italians]" as the robbers. Lucy seems to suspect Nucky has other girls besides her on the side, and tries to get him to tell her otherwise - Nucky skirts the question. Margaret confides in the head of the Women's Temperance League, explaining the situation with Nucky without actually naming him: Nucky has offered to take care of her and her children. The woman seems understanding, but gives her a pamphlet on family planning. Lucky finds out that Gillian is actually Jimmy's mother, rather than his wife. Johnny Torio talks down to Capone in conversation, Jimmy advises Torio not to pull back from Greek town. The FBI department head comes down on Van Alden, telling him to get some concrete evidence if he wants more resources. Margaret and Nucky speak of the future, Margaret reads the pamphlet from the Temperance League, and finds a barbaric method of birth control involving Lysol. Capone's son is revealed to be deaf. Lucy stops in at Margaret's shop and insults her thoroughly. Margaret stands up to her, displaying vastly superior intellect, having to explain her elaborate "come-back" insult to Lucy, Margaret then quits the job and walks out. Margaret and her children arrive at their new place - provided by Nucky, and she begins to realize the full scope of the choice she has made. Lucky meets with Nucky - a situation which goes sour when Luciano insults Gillian. Nucky makes it crystal clear that Gillian is to be treated with respect. Van Alden calls on Margaret only to discover he may have lost his informant as she has been whisked away by Nucky. Jimmy and Capone go with Torio to meet with Charlie Sheridan, but only as a front for their plan to murder Sheridan and his "goons." The plan goes off smoothly, and Sheridan is executed by Jimmy himself - payback for what he had ordered done to Pearl. Later, Jimmy tells Torio he plans to stay with the organization. Capone and Jimmy trade insults a little too familiar for each other's liking, and when Capone comes to iron things out between them, Jimmy is ready just in case things get bloody. The two men hash out their differences, and part ways as friends; Jimmy consoles Capone over his deaf son, and lends him encouragement. Nucky cancels his plans for the night with Margaret, and her position becomes all to clear to her when a woman stops by referring to Margaret as a fellow concubine. As episode 6 concludes, Van Alden is shown to carry some manner of obsession over Margaret; as this violates his stern religious stance, he submits himself to punishment in the form of self-flagellation.
