Background
Edit
Like her husband, Emma is Jewish and a first generation immigrant, likely from Eastern Europe. Her main language is Yiddish. She moved to the United States with her husband in 1903. The two have a daughter together. ("What Does the Bee Do?", "Resolution")
Season 2
Edit
Manny mentions his love for his wife while negotiating a deal with Jimmy Darmody in April 1921, despite the fact that "her ankles got thick". When Mickey Doyle visits Manny at his house in order to pay Jimmy's debt in bootleg liquor, Manny forbids Doyle from sitting on a knitted armchair saying that his wife "would kill" Manny if he allowed him to. ("What Does the Bee Do?", "Georgia Peaches")
After Manny murders Angela Darmody, Manny goes into hiding in order to protect his wife and daughter. ("To the Lost")
Season 3
Edit
Having found work as an enforcer for Nucky Thompson, Manny and his wife move from Philadelphia to Atlantic City.
Manny is unwilling to murder Rowland Smith under orders of Thompson on December 31 1922 because his wife organizes a small party for New Year's Eve. Ultimately, he decides to do it after having dinner with her, a few hours into 1923. Before he leaves, Emma gives Manny a new hat as a New Year's present. However, just as Manny opens the door he is shot in the face by Richard Harrow. Harrow leaves as Emma screams next to her dead husband. ("Resolution")
